a big question about school
I'm curious what your opinions are on this. Tristan has another full year of preschool to go before entering kindergarten. You have to be 5 by September 1st here to get into kindergarten on time. Tristan will be 5 3 weeks before the cutoff date. Should I send him or no?
If I don't send him, what should he do for a year??? Just curious as to what you all think about this. Thanks for your input!

It surely couldn't hurt anything if he did go another year, unless you plan on teaching him at home for that year, which is not a bad idea. My oldest son was the same way with his birthday falling after the starting date . I taught him at home for the first 4 years of school. He did realy well.

Around here parents whose kids have summer bdays wait until their kid is 6. I think it all depends on how developmentally ready they are. Logan is ready for kindergarten now and he just turned 4. But emotionally he isn't ready.
As for what to do, most folks here keep their kids in pre-K for 2 years.

I would say that a lot depends on his social skills and what he knows already. I kept my Jonathan in an extra year of pre-school just because he had a very low frustration level, and I wanted him to enter kindergarten with confidence rather than feel defeated and dislike school at such an early age. He was a July 3rd baby, also.

My youngest son turned 5 on the 1st of september. We had him in preschool the year before. We went ahead and let him start kindergartne even though he would be the youngest. He didn't do too bad. We did keep him back another year in Kindergarten. But he has some learning disabilities. All it did for him was help him and give him confidence.
