learning to pee outdoors

my husband use to be a over the road truck driver. we stopped at a little place off the road in missouri and bought a 6 week old minature schnauzer.
we trained him right off the bat to go pee outside.and this is how we did it.
everytime we would stop the truck i would have a cup of water and i would pour it on the ground and put his little feet in the water . and he would go pee everytime. if it was raining it made it really easy on me i just set him down.do you know that dog never ever went in the truck.and thats my story
