One of the best ones I ever got was to put some oil or butter on your figer, and run it around the top of the cooled pot/kettle you're using to either boil potatoes, or noodles, and you'll never have a boil over.
IT WORKS! I never have the messy boil overs, and I never play the game of blowing down the foam when it gets too high!!!
doesn't take much either! Just a little, and you can avoid a mess!!!

Hmmm, that's a great tip Jamie. I've never heard that one!
I'm trying to think of some of the creative things I have heard. I'll come back to this one

What a great tip!! I have that problem all the time thanks for such a great solution
The best tip I've ever gotten, was practice makes perfect. When things don't turn out right, keep trying until they do. I know it's not just a cooking tip, but I've applied it to my cooking. I used to be horrible at making pies, but I kept trying and now I can make a pie that has my family clamoring for more Good advice when cooking anything I think. Practice makes perfect.
Other than that: Measure flour, cornmeal, sugar, salt, etc over a clean coffee filter. You can level off into the filter, and then pour the extra right back into the container

be creative, use a recipie as a guide.
look at different recipies and find out why each ingrediant is used and you can create your own
