Sleep help
My daughter is 8 months old. She was sleeping great thru the night then about 3 months ago started waking up to eat again. Well, she doesn't wnt to eat anymore, but still wakes up 3-5 times a night and just wants to be picked up and rocked back to sleep. Any ideas on how to help her sleep longer thru the night? She wakes about every 2 hours, sometime every 1. Just to be rocked. And if we don't pick her up, she has a full blown melt down and screams for hours. Any ideas?

Does she scream like that everytime if you leave her?
Connor did this for a long time, and I would go to him and pat his back or pat his bottom, but wouldn't pick him up. He eventually got the idea that he would have to put himself back to sleep because I wasn't going to pick him up.
Hang in there

everytime at night. I can put her up for a nap and leave and she'll fall asleep on her own.

Unfortunetly, that is probably what you are going to have to do Julie. Emily did this because she just loved to cuddle and be with someone. It was hard to not pick her up, but that is the only way to get her to stop doing it. Like Kem said she will evertually get the hint and decide its not worth waking up if you are not even going to pick her up...she's playing you : I think most of us have had little stinkers like that. Good Luck and hang in there! gs:

Does she have a night light in her room? Maybe she's afraid of the dark. Their little minds are funny things.

I second the nightlight. You might also want to try a radio with some music. Scotty used to have lots of trouble sleeping and the music did wonders.

The radio thing is a problem here now because they refuse to sleep without it But if it gets them to sleep, then go for it : I would also put a nightlight in there too, just in case.

I ried the lulliby thing last night and we had a somewhat better night. She only woke up twice. The second time, she stayed up for about an hour and a half instread of 3 hrs. But she stirred throughout the night and instead of waking up 100 itmes, I think the music soothed her back to sleep. *Hopefully* it will get better!
