Teens and Tweens, what going on?

How are things with your teen/tween? Are they big into boys/girls and dating yet? Do you deal with friend drama? Do they still respect you? What are their plans for the summer?

Amanda is going to be 15 this Saturday. She has a "boyfriend," but I don't let her date yet. As far as friend drama goes, sometimes I just listen, and sometimes I give advice. Respect: I believe respect has to be earned by giving respect. When they reach a certain age, after respect is earned, respect must be demanded. As a rule, she has respect for me. Sometimes her mouth goes off, but I let her know before she gets too far that it won't be tolerated. One of my favorite sayings: I can out-attitude you any day! She knows I can, and it stops her in her tracks. She wants to get a work permit when she turns 15 and find a job for the summer. She also wants to attend camp for a week. Other than that, we just go places and do stuff. She spends time at her cousin's house a lot, and her cousin spends time here. They're the same age.

Sue-Ann doesn't have a bf thank heavens. Even if she did I would not allow her to date at 13. Johnny doesn't have a gf either. I think he is too young at 14 to date also. Anthony who is now 18 is single also. I guess I am lucky!
They know how far they can push me before I go off. I usually don't have any problems with them.
I agree with Jean that respect really needs to be earned. I think that is something that so far is good!
